Maple Old Fashioned

Traditionalists lament modern day mixologists tinkering with the classics. While the Maple Old Fashioned is a twist on the classic Old Fashioned, the bourbon integrity remains intact in this sweet and flavoursome concoction.

Quick Guide

Maple Old Fashioned

What is it?
A Maple Old Fashioned is a cocktail made by mixing maple syrup and bourbon with bitters and a twist of citrus rind.

Where's it from?
Traditionally, the first use of the name "Old Fashioned" for a bourbon cocktail was said to have been in 1881 in Louisville, Kentucky. The key addition of maple syrup sees the Maple Old Fashioned prominent in the maple syrup loving US and Canada.

What does it taste like?
A traditional Old Fashioned is a bourbon-lover’s drink. Adding maple syrup instead of traditional sugar means not only a touch of sweetness but also a greater depth of flavour.

Some like their Maple Old Fashioned’s made with Canadian whisky which tends to be a little smoother and lighter in flavour than a traditional bourbon.
